Automated Storage and Retrieval System(AS/RS), the typical representative of modern logistics technology in the modern society, is playing an increasingly important role. It is a component of factory logistics, flexible manufacturing systems and computer integrated manufacturing system. Researchers pay more attention to the automated warehouse's planning and designing problem, and efficient and reasonable storage system can help goods manufacturers to accelerate the speed of logistics'flow, reduce cost, ensure production run smoothly, and can realize effective control and management of resources. Therefore, it has very important practical significance that design and plan something like automated warehouse equipments, parameters and logistic circuits reasonably, reduce waiting phenomena and improve goods stackers'efficiency.Here, the paper plans and design the automated warehouse from a new point of view. The main contents as follows:Firstly, the thesis puts forward the research purpose and meaning, expounds the domestic and international status and trends, and summarizes the domestic and international logistic simulation software's application situation and AS/RS optimization theory's research status Starting from warehouse's classification and constitute, it learns and does research about different kinds of automated storehouse, and then analyses the automatic inner-warehouse operating procedure. Planning and designing steps and main parameters calculation method of the automated warehouse is given here.Secondly, with regard to the operational issues about automated storage in engineering practice, the thesis tries to analyzing it and modeling by means of using queuing theory, giving I and U type constraints slack condition respectively, the conclusion under that conditions is that I type and U type constraint slack condition's operating mechanism of AS/RS belongs to M/M/n and M/G/1 mathematic model on queuing theory. The paper gives the methods for calculating parameters such as the model number waiting for services, the number of average service stackers, the average waiting time of goods, the average waiting probability of goods in the model and so on, and this theory and method is applied to the automated warehouse project of a Gansu company.Finally, in order to verify the reliability of AS/RS model on queuing theory further, the thesis using eM-Plant which is a logistics simulation software to build the model to simulating I and U type automated storage respectively, finally educes the intuitionist outcome includes two-dimensional renderings, three-dimensional renderings and experimental data. The results not only show that the I type is better than U type on the overall performance, but also verified the reliability of the automated warehouse's mathematical model based on the queuing theory.
