Reduction of body weight can not only save material, but also improve acceleration performance. This paper is mainly focused on the lightweight research on Quasi-high speed generator car body structure.Parametric method is introduced into the whole processes of the FEM analysis of car body structure, which bases ANSYS software and begins with the preprocessor, builds the parametric model of car body structure by using the APDL, that is: definition of the parameter, creation of the parametric geometry, creation of the parametric finite element model. And according to the requirement of intensity criterion, analyzes the stress and distortion of all kinds of load cases. The results show that the distortion of car body is harmonious and the stress is distributed reasonably; local high stress positions have the phenomena of stress focus; there are stress storage in the lower stress positions.In order to realize the lightweight of car body, In the process of optimization, the weight of steel structure of car body is designated as objective function, the section sizes of major body section parameters as design variables, and the stress as state variables. Finally, the strength and stiffness of the optimized model is checked to examine the reasonability of the optimal results and ensure the remarkable reduction of body weight is made on condition that the performance of the train meets its requirements. The optimum results show that the mass of car body is reduced 1811.3kg, which is 3.7% of car body weight, at the same time the stiffness and intensity can meet the requirement.The dynamic characteristics of original car body structure and the optimized car body structure are analyzed with the modal analysis technique, and twenty order natural frequencies are calculated. The natural frequencies show that the car body structure can meet the claim of dynamic characteristics.The results of this research can provide design reference of the Quasi-high speed car body Structure.
