The railway transportation speed-up produces good social performance and huge economic performance to the society. For the speed-up passenger car is of the huge amount, and involves widely, its slight improvement will result in reducing weight obviously. Therefore, the lightweight work of steel car body structure is of great significance, and advantageous to raising the total railway passenger car technique level and the economic performance of the railway passenger transportation.According to the characteristics of steel car body structure of 25 speed-up hard sleeping car, by utilizing I-DEAS software, built up a mechanics model of the steel car body structure. Based on the strength requirement of railway vehicles design and Provisional Regulations on Identification Test(TB/T1335-1996),analyzed the strength and stiffness of four load cases and calculated eight order natural frequencies.The FEA results show: only the local stress of corrugated sill is beyond the allowable stress of material, and the stress of remaining components is not beyond, so there is stress storage. The stiffness of car body structure is larger than the values of requirement. The first overall vibration of car body structure is of the second order, and its vibration frequency is 14.77Hz.So 25 speed-up hard sleeping car can reduce the weight whether from strength or stiffness perspective. According to the finite element analysis results, put forward five improvement suggestions to the steel car body structure. Finally ,through the contrast of the calculation analysis, make sure the end excellent lightweight design project, and the optimization car body structure passes through'passenger car body quiet strength experiment method(TB1806 - 1986)'. This work can play a positive role to the lightweight of speed-up car body structure.
