In this paper, firstly, the weaknesses of the current PDM system were pointed out by analyzing its application status in the electromechanical products manufacturing enterprises. Then, based on the requirements analysis of PDM in product collaborative development process, two key techniques, namely, the workflow technique and the version management technique, were mainly studied to achieve the system. For workflow technique, the flexible modeling for the flow of product collaborative development process was conducted; With visual modeling tools, the visual definition, monitoring and management of the flow were achieved to meet the flow dynamic modification, by the dynamic working modeling method based on the Petri net and the flow realization method based on dynamic working example. For the version management technique, the version storage model of difference integration was used for the store of a large number of design versions arising in product collaborative development process, so the storage space was saved and the access rate of the various historical versions was also improved; The collaborative concurrency control mechanism was used for the version information sharing of the collaborative development, and the traditional serial solution was transformed to the parallel-shared strategy.Finally, the PDM system of product collaborative development process was built based on the functional model and database model which were built with the Unified Modeling Language, and the main function modules of this system were simply introduced.
