The applications and development process of spacecraft indicate that the electrostatic discharge induced by spacecraft surface charging is the important reason of spacecraft anomalies and failures. Therefore, we must take the necessary controls and protective measures to the surface potential of the spacecraft when we design and apply spacecraft, while the active control of spacecraft surface potential is the most important and effective method of spacecraft potential control.The active control of surface potential based on pulsed plasma source (PPS) possesses the advantage of being small average power consumption,flexiblie to operate, compact and high efficiency. It is suitable for the spacecraft surface potential control and components'potential elimination in space station. The main work of this thesis is as below:(1) Power supply of PPS. According to need of test, a performance superior MDT-II power supply of PPS is developed based on MDT-I power supply of PPS.(2) Test of simulation. The four test systems that PPS is vertical, parallel with simulated pieces of the spacecraft or PPS is on one of the simulated pieces of the spacecraft is designed, and a series of potential control simulation experiments are carried out under the test systems, and large amount of test data is get. Finally, the feasibility of spacecraft surface potential controled by pulsed plasma source is proved.(3) Analysis of test data.Acording to test and data analysis, we get the relationship between the active control effect of spacecraft surface potential with many factors including that the size of the potential difference between the two spacecraft, the type and discharge energy of the PPS, the distance and the relative position between PPS with the two parts of spacecraft to be eliminate potential difference, the distance and whether there are obstacles between he two parts of spacecraft to be eliminate potential difference,and so on.(4) Equivalent model. According to the characteristics of PPS, the equivalent model for the active control of surface potential based on PPS is established, and finally the correctness of the model is verified by the test.
