The study of high initiator overload would have entered into the study of the active area of military engineering protection technique in recent years, and has gradually become a hot issue in research, since the high-speed weapons were born. Now, the high projectile overload has been focused on, the study about high initiator overload was uncovered. In this paper, the high initiator overload was researched with the high overload of projectile.First, the thesis intruduced the research background, purpose, meaning and methods, stated the domestic and abroad research status and research progress of overload, and then analyzed launch and penetration process of missile and the initiator, the analysis improved that:In the launch process, the projectile was promoted due to gunpowder combustion gases, the initiator suffered the interaction of overload from the projectile base of the impact, this overload may damage the initiator parts and explosive properties or change the place and even bomb, which was not allowed by egineerers. When the projectile was penetrating targets, the initiator suffered the interaction of overload from the impact of the projectile head. These two required the initiator must have the ability to withstand high overload. Then, according to internal and external ballistic theory, the gas gun was the best load test simulation methods and the same to scientific penetration in comparison Machete hammer test method, Falling ball impact test method, Pendulum impact test method, Hopkinson bar and Gas gun test method and so on; On the initiator relationship with the assembly of the projectile and the initiator size changes in penetration targets, there were related to the overload test of change or not. The results showed that: The gas guns would be a good simulation of missile launch and the target process, and suitable for simulation of initiator overload when the projectile was penetrating the target; The overload was high assembly with a gap between initiator and projectile compared with no assembly clearance; With the same missile and the speed condition, the initiator changes in size can not significantly changed the peak value. Finally, initiator size of the impact of change on its overload, the large-scale finite element method simulation techniques—ANSYS10.0/LS-DYNA was used to simulate overload situation, the projectile and initiator acceleration-time curve were obtained, the results show that: the simulation results and actual test results were in good agreement, this can provide references for designers, but also confirm the feasibility of numerical simulation.
