Gas-liquid two-phase flow has emerged in many fields such as petroleum, chemical industry, medicine, atomic energy, etc. The flow rate is one parameter which is fundamental in the two-phase flow system. So the measurement of flow rate is inevitable and urgent. The two-phase flow rate can not be measured directly by one-phase flow meter because of the complexity of the two-phase flow. Traditional two-phase flow measurements have so many defects such as bulky, expensive and off-line that they restrict the development and managment of many oil fields. The extracting and separating method (ESM) is a promising method. The principle is that separating a fraction of flow in the mainstream firstly, and then separating and metering the subfraction using the metering separator and the one-phase flow meter respectively, at last figuring out the mainstream flow rate according to the ralationship between the mainstream and the subfraction. ESM has a lot of advantages including small volume of device, high accuracy of measurement, on-line measurement, etc. The distributor's strcture is important in the ESM. The structure of the distributor has been designed in this dissertation and the two-phase flow experiments have been carried out at the experimental facility designed by ourselves.Method of combination FLUENT numerical simulation with experiment has been used on the optimal designment of the swirled sampler along the circumference. The numerical simulations we carried out are the angle of swirl vane and the position of the sample holes. According to the results, the best angle of swirl vane is 30°,the eight sample holes (diameter is 5mm) should be opend 30mm down the rectifier in order to ensure the effectiveness of sampling. The experiment is carried out at the multiphase loop system of the China university of petroleum. The experimental media are air and water. The relationships between extraction ratio and the mainstream flow rate, the swirl vane and the resistance of subfractional loop have been obtained through the experiment. The results indicate the liquid extraction ratio near 0.079 which is stable in a wide range of flow. And the gas extraction ratio is linear with the liquid flow rate of the mainstream. The average error of the liquid and gas flow rate measurement approach to 8.4% and 9.5% respectively.
