Implementation of condition-based maintenance of electrical equipment is an important means for improving the safety, reliability and economy of power grid. With the rapid development of Chinese power grid construction, as well as continuous improvement of state detection, condition-based maintenance of electrical equipment has more and more application in power system, due to its targeted, economical, reliable and other advantages. Among them, on the basis of considering the status of equipment and network operation, rational strategy of condition-based maintenance and scientific maintenance plan are the key to successful implementation of condition-based maintenance of equipment, and also the focus of this study.The variation of failure rate after maintenance is the basis for optimization of condition-based maintenance decision-making. In view of low credibility of traditional statistical methods, the application lag and other aspects, a new approach of prediction equipment failure rate for decision-making for condition-based maintenance optimization is put forward. Through quantifying the extent of deterioration of current status of equipment, combining with the curve of similar equipment, using"age reduction factor"to describe the status of repair work on equipment, prediction of failure rate after maintenance is achieved by this approach.Through straightening out the status of decision-making mechanism of condition-based maintenance of equipment home and abroad, the advantages and disadvantages of three types of decision-making mechanism was pointed out. On this basis, risk management approach is put forward, which quantifies the risk that the equipment and grid may face during implementing process."Minimum cost of integrated risk"is set as optimizing objective, a mathematical optimization model is set, using tabu searching method to filter the feasible maintenance plans, and the optimal technical and economical maintenance plan is obtained.Finally, an area of East China Power Grid 220kV and 500kV power transmission equipment maintenance scheduling was optimized and arranged by the optimization model and tabu search algorithm presented in this paper. And through comparison with the traditional method, the effectiveness of this research work was indicated.
