By the process of the Economic Globalization,Chinese economy is rapidly developing now. There is a sharp shortage of land, energy and minerals, especially in the areas around the coast whose economy is relatively developed. The shortage of land becomes the main block of city development. To solve this problem, many constructions, such as the reclamation of land from sea and man made islands, are constructed in the areas around the coast. However, since the scales of these constructions are larger and larger, the engineering conditions are more and more adverse, and there are a number of technical problems appeared.The dissertation analyses the reinforcement of the geotextile by studying the instance of cofferdam closing based on soft foundation in the second phase project of Southeast Seawall of Caofeidian, and improves the calculating method, by which the construction could be effectivelyguided. Considering the constructions, stepped loading is used to accelerate the consolidation of the earth during the construction. The quantity and the interval of the stepped loading is decided according tothe consolidation, the settlement and the bearing capacity of the earth. On precondition that the base is stable, the bearing capacity of the base is increased, which improves the condition of the construction and cofferdam closing.The dissertation summarizes the formula of the velocity around the cofferdam gap, and defined the conditions to use the formula. The flow near the cofferdam gap is simulated by the numerical simulation, and the cofferdam gap structure is checking computed. The technical condition on level blocking and vertical blocking are analyzed. The constructionexperiences on cofferdam closure are introduced by giving examples of practical projects.The technical problems met in this project are common problems for coastal landfill and man-made island projects. The calculation theory and method summarized in this project can be reference for the similar constructions.
