Study On Aesthetic Expression Of Modern Steel Structure Building

Steel construction have already occupied a large share in buildings in China since the state has promulgated a series of policies on encouraging the usage of structural steel in 1996, but the aesthetics research of steel construction in our country is still far lags behind the performance of the actual demand.Steel is basic material of steel members, and steel members are elementary units of steel construction which construct by connecting one member to another with joint effectively. Both joints, members and systems are based on the basic material, it is steel. In this paper, the author breaks up the whole steel construction into four parts in order to analyze the aesthetic expression of modern steel construction, they are material, node, component and system respectively, and then the role and characteristics of the four parts in aesthetic expressing are studied. The author arrived at several conclusions of aesthetic expression on modern steel construction by assembling the four parts into a whole.Article cited a recent surge in China out of the outstanding steel structure called a world-class architectural works:the new CCTV building, the National Grand Theater, the National Stadium and so on, respectively, from the material, node, component and system analysis described in detail the four steel architectural aesthetic theory in practical engineering application and embodiment. Finally, lists of design work for many years to complete some of the examples of steel construction projects, detailed engineering design in concrete, the steel construction of the aesthetic combination of theory and engineering practice, in practical engineering design to achieve better Application and presentation.The paper hold the opinion that the aesthetic expression of steel construction is the result of interaction by material, node, component and systems. The systems are main element, the joints and members are elements, and steel is the basic material. It is because of structural steel has good mechanical properties, metal color and texture, which makes the modern steel building glow breathtaking beauty.
