Consolidation test is a method to study one-dimensional deformation of soil. in the full lateral restraint by testing compression characteristics of soil under axial pressure,of which the index can be used to determine the compressibility of soil and calculate the settlement of foundation.In this paper,K-zero consolidation of the undisturbed loess,saturated loess and soft soil are studied using K-zero consolidation apparatus,which is the confined the continuous consolidation,grading loading consolidation by Chang'an University. There are standard K-zero consolidation test and uniform strain K-zero consolidation. The behaviors of undisturbed loess,saturated loess and soft soil are studied on the base of K-zero consolidation, such as the axial stress and the axial strain, secant modulus and axial stress,the changing of K-zero and coefficient of consolidation of saturated soil.The relationship between axial strain and stress can be described with hyperbolic curve, and that of K-zero~axial stress curve. In this paper, the stress relaxation of saturated soft soil is studied using continuous loading consolidation apparatus, the relationship between plastic deformation and axial stress of the saturated soft soil can be described with linear, and that of elastic deformation and axial stress. According to analysis of tests, show that continuous loading consolidation test is suitable to actual conditions, and use less time, can be better applied to the project to practice.
