Air source heat pump is an air-conditioning which gets energy from outdoor air. It can make low energy upgrade into high energy to be used by consuming a small amount of electricity, this environmentally friendly and efficient way of supplying energy in using low energy has obvious competitive advantage, and get more and more attention in recent years. As a form of heat pump, air source heat pump is limited by geographical and meteorological conditions in practical application, this hinder its promotion and development seriously. Based on these problems, we will study the air source heat pump which used in Xi'an, and analysis its feasibility and economic energy conservation, then integrate these factors to guide its application in this region.Taking the Yeyuan Hotel of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology as the example, the paper studies the air source heat pump application in Xi'an. It firstly analyzes the characteristics of the climate in Xi'an and the requirements of environmental conditions in using air source heat pump, then introduces temperature, speed and relative humidity measurements of a lobby when the air-conditioning running stably in this building in summer and winter, at last simulates airflow by using CFD technique. All these results verify that the air source heat pump can be used in this region. On the basis of frost condition of outdoor unit when air source heat pump running in winter, we monitored two-month winter outdoor temperature and relative humidity, the data shows that air source heat pump can be used in Xi'an reliably. Based on feasibility, the article compares direct evaporative air-source heat pump system with direct-fired lithium bromide absorption chiller, chiller and fuel water heater for the initial investment and operating costs, the results show that air source heat pump system is more energy saving than the two others.Practical monitor, CFD simulation and economic comparison all indicate that air source heat pump is feasible, economical and energy saving when using in similar buildings in Xi'an region. This can provide reference and guidance for other region which has similar climate with Xi'an to use air source heat pump.
