With the western development step by step, montainous expressways will occupy a large proportion in the road network. Mountainous Highways are impacted by topography, landscape and geomorphology. Taking into cost of engineering construction and the quantity of engineering, technical indicators are consistent with technical specification, but there were security risks of the montanous expressway. Some accidents often happen, such as the serious and major traffic accidents, which bring people's lives and property and personal safety serious threats.Road Safety System is a person, vehicle, road and environmental components of the dynamic system, it is the basis to study of various elements within the system for the formation of road safety, which also is the basis for selecting evaluation methods. From the perspective of road safety, this text studys on the relationship between road alignment and traffic accident. Studying on the relationship of safety factors, including the road alignment (horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, alignment composition, cross section, interchange,etc), traffic safety, speed, to lay the theoretical evaluation of road safety evaluation basis. By analysing of mountainous expressway traffic accident datas, specially studying on the alignment of accident-prone sections, including small radius curve, longitudinal gradient sections, bridge and tunnel sections and other sections of black spots; Studying on the mountainous exprssway safety evaluation of indicators. The choice of indicator is the key element of the safety assessment, which relates to the accuracy of expressway assessment. The paper probes into the alignment of the road safety assessment of test methods, and Operating speed-based security evaluation has been studied,which proposes the use of operating sight distance, lateral force coefficient, lateral force, superelevation ect as test indexes;Explaining the details of road safety evaluation process, for the longitudinal gradient, tunnel and other accident-prone sections, the paper gives the security measures. With Ankang-Ziyang mountainous expressway production drawing for the safety evaluation tests, demonstrated the necessity of safety evaluation and the key indicators.
