MC(Matrix Converter) as one type of general power converter, get seientists big attention, beeause it has simple strueture and many good quality. This dissertation firstly introduces the basic topology, the basic principles, the exiting modulation algorithm and the communication problem of the MC. Then mainly analyzes modulation process of MC with dual space vector modulation(DSVM) and gains the mathematic relations between inputs and outputs.Their advantage and disadvantage are analyzed.Matlab simulation model of the system has been established,Various parts of the simulation module is described in detail. The process of switches conversion and their relative pulse wave using an optimized nine-step modulation strategy is analyzed. And then a simple way for the realization of carrier waves is given. At last, a MC model by means of MATLAB/SIMULINK is set up to verify the correctness and feasibility of the modulation strategy. A closed-loop control method for MC based on modified proportional integral (PI) control was proposed. The discrepancy between the rotating space vector of voltages is calculated according to the discrepancy between the actual output voltage and expected output voltage of the matrix converter. The modified PI controller is used to track the reference voltage to realize the closed-loop control. The software and hardware designs of MC system are introduced in detail. The functions of system controller are mainly finished by DSP and FPGA.The functions, such as the calculation of the modulation duties online, are finished in DSP.The responsibility of FPGA mainly is switch control signals transition, and the prototype of MC has been designed. Finally, the research and the innovation of this dissertation are summarized, and further suggestions for the research along the directions in this dissertation are proposed.
