As the power quality issues have become increasingly prominent, the loss of life and property caused by power quality was growing up, so people paid more attention to the power quality monitoring. In order to meet the requirement of high precison, real-time power quality monitoring, this paper designed a power quality monitor based on DSP.(1)This paper have studied the situation of power quality development either in domestic or oversea, meanwhile, integrated with the national standard, we have established the requirement of high precison, real-time power quality monitoring. Based on this requirement, this paper introduced the theory of power quality monitoring, include RMS of voltage and current, power, three-phase unbalance, harmonic and flicker. Meanwhile, we also described the problem we need to attention in the practical using.(2)According to the requirement of power quality monitor, combine with the principle of low cost, we designed the overall planning for power quality monitor. It based on DSP and would divided into five modules, include power sensor module, analog signal processing module, sampling frequency synchronization module, A/D convert module and DSP and peripherals module. Each module was described in details, include the circuit structure and the principle of operation.(3)According to the hardware design, we designed the software base on the DSP/BIOS real-time kernel. The software would divided into three module, include main program module, driver and interrupt program module and monitoring algorithm program module. Each module was described in details.(4)According to the hardware and software design, we had successfully developed the sample monitor, and we finished the test on it. This paper presented the data of power quality precision testing and EMC testing, and we analysis the error resource.The final result of testing had show that the power quality monitor which was designed in this paper was able to monitoring various parameters, include RMS of voltage and current, power, voltage harmonic,current harmonic and so on.
