The developing trend of miniaturization and lightweight design of modern electronic equipments has brought the increase in using high frequency of switches. Soft-switching technology can well solve the problems of increase of switching loss and switching noise in circuit while its frequency is being higher. Therefore, soft-switching technology becomes one of the most significant technologies in high frequency promotion of inverter. Research on soft-switching theory is very active, but research on the application of soft-switching inverter is comparatively much lagged behind. The design of practical zero-voltage detection and dead time compensation circuit is shown in this paper, based on Auxiliary Diode Resonant Pole Inverter(ADRPI) taken as an object.This paper focuses on research on the application of ADRPI soft-switching technology. It analyzes working principle and characteristics of ADRPI topology and working process and phase plane of rugged resonant pole. Based on the influence of the length of dead time on the inverter's working reliability and on the quality of output current waveform and output current RMS value, this paper shows the design of a kind of practical zero-voltage detection circuit, which realizes the safe and reliable zero-voltage detection in ADRPI soft-switching inverter circuit. Also a detailed analysis on dead time's natural formation mechanism and the confirmation of the length of dead time of ADRPI are described in the paper. An optimization of dead time parameter selection is realized based on theoretical analysis. With the method of judging current polarity from current vector space angle in a rotating reference frame, the compensation of electric current in dead time can be realized, thus to reduce dead time's influence on the quality of output current of inverter.With the natural formation mechanism of ADRPI inverter's dead time and the practical principle of zero-voltage detection combined in this paper, we designed related experimental device, and the experimental results show that the quality of output current of inverter has been obviously improved. It has proved that ADRPI soft-switching inverter in actual application has very good application prospect and value.
