When we step into a low carbon economy today, as an important part of green reproducible energy, the solar energy becomes more and more popular, while the solar photovoltaic technology also develops rapidly, and the photovoltaic pump system becomes a hot research direction, which its application range expands gradually, with its tremendous social and economical advantages, it must have a huge potential market.The BLDC photovoltaic pump system this paper has researched of belongs to the entrusted development project of Guangdong United Pump Ltd., which is not only required to complete the basic functions, but also to improve the technology of the system further. In order to expand the application of the PV pump system, it should be more efficient, reliable, wider of lift range, easier of operation, and lower of cost. Now the system is in the process of PR (pilot run).In this paper, the overall design scheme of system is proposed by the analysis of major and key technologies of the system. The design and realization of hardware and software are given out. With the experimental waveforms and data from the prototype, the validity and feasibility of scheme are verified. The main content in this paper is:1. The overall structure of the controller of BLDC PV pump system is designed, which is made dsPIC30F4011 as the core of control and IPM as the main reversing electric circuit.2. The characteristics of PV pump and the key technologies of sensorless BLDCM such as detection of rotor position, starting to synchronous running, digital phase locking and filtering are analyzed. Using dsPIC, the digital control of motor-pump system is accomplished by software.3. The MPPT control of PV pump system is analyzed. Research and simulation of P&O and its improved method are given out.4. Considering practical use, the sound protection system, plenty on-board power supply and user-friendly displaying and operating system are designed.5. The experimental prototype and platform are designed and build. With the experimental waveform and data from the prototype, the validity and feasibility of scheme are verified.
