| Studies on the application of Taigu genie male-sterile wheat have been becoming a new method in the multiple approach of wheat breeding. In this paper, the research developments in home and abroad were reviewed since Taigu genie male-sterile wheat was found in 1972. This retrospect included the following fields: studies on sterile mechanism, location of sterile gene, studies on application technology, achievements in wheat breeding, creations and developments in special germplasm, and researches on application of heterosis. According to the research conducted in the Agricultural Science Institute of Zhangye Prefecture of Gansu. Province in the recent years, ----This paper campared the genetic improving effects from different recurrent selection programs and concluded that: 1. The mass male parents method and the ladder-like improving method, with the advantages of simplicity and convenience, would be suitable for improving some simple characteristics for shod-term and mid-term objectives. 2.Because the synthetic multiple population method and Si family method had plentiful genetic background,they could be suitable for improving synthetic characteristics of long-term objective. 3 .The improving effect of SI family method was the best among recurrent seletion programs adopted. ----Through comparing and analyzing the selection effects of progenies in S family, the paper emphatically concluded that it was very significant to improve the main agronomic charateristics with S~ family method. This was reported for the first time in China. ----The characteristics, yield performances and plantable areas of a new spring wheat strain was introduced. The new strain was high- yield and high-quality new strain TVn- 11 3-2-2,which had been bred through multiple male parents ladder-like improving method. ----The paper introduced special germplasms, which had been created by the Agricultural Science Institute of Zhangye Prefecture in the application research of Taigu genic male-sterile wheat within recent years. These special germplasms included peculiar early germplasms, super-dwarf germplasms, big-kernel germplasms and high protein content germplasms. Some problems in recurrent selection were discussed in this paper: ----It ought to be carefully designed before the constitution of the basic population of recurrent selection. It was suggested that the polycross be regarded as a neccessary way of constituting the basic population,in any kinds programs adopted. ----The population of recurrent selection must be controlled to arange, in which it will assure the good genes would not be lost and maintain the balance of good geties in population.The effective way of controlling population is the method of intercross----selection-test and elimination-intercross in Si family method. ----The frequency of objective genes must be adjusted as the occasion demands in recurrent selection,so that the express intensity of objective charactetistics could be strengthened. The effevtive method of adjusting the frequency of objective genes is to import new germplasms. ----Reccurent selection must be closely integrated with common practices, so that a synthetic breeding program could be formed, in which it could organically combine the short-term, mid-term and long- term objectives. ----Further efforts should be applied in extensive utilization of Ms2 gene, to create and reserve special... |
