Heinolysin detection of Streptococcus isolates of Pigs Swine Streptococcus strains isolated from Jiangsu and Shanghai in recent years were detected for the hemolysin. Eight iiangsu isolates of Streptococcus suis type 2 showed poor bemolysin on the blood agar. but very strong hemolysin in the Todd-Hewitt broth(THB), and its hemolysin belong to the family of thiol-activated hemolysin. Nine isolates of Streptoccus equi subsp. zooepidemicus showed very strong hemolysin on the blood agar and in THB adding 5% new-born calf serum, but no hemolysin in TI-lB. and the hemolysin was similar to Streptolysin S(SLS). Another two isolates being non typical group C showed very strong hemolysin on the blood ag~r and in THB adding 5% new-born calf serum, but its hemolysin was neither SLO-lik nor SLS-Iike hemolysin.
