Based on POM, a three-dimensional baroclinic diagnostic model under the a-coordinate was established to simulate the circulations with the real topography and Changjiang River discharge. The inflow and outflow at the open boundaries and windstress at the sea surface were set on the basis of historical data. The grid is 1 憍 1? which is fine enough in the study area. The results show that the diluted water of Changjiang River begins to divert northeastwards in May. The Taiwan Warm Current mainly flowing northwards goes along the deep trough. Through some numerical experiments, it seems that the topography, wind and the Changjiang River runoff do have some effects on the circulation pattern in the region. Based on the simulated circulation field, the transport and difussion of the eggs and larvae of Pseudosciaena Crocea were also simulated numerically. The results show that the eggs and larvae are mainly transported along the high-speed currents in May.
