Evaluation on RumexK-1 SilagelHay in Sheep and Rabbits LI HUIQUAN (Animal Nutrition) (Department of Animal Science,Xinjiang Agricultural University) Supervised by:Prof.Luo Qiujiang Abstract Two experiments were conducted to determine the feeding value of RumexK-I in sheep and rabbits. Trial 1 :In the period, 18 mature sheep were fed with three kinds of trial diets which contained 90% pure wheat straws added 10% cottonseed solvents (group A) and RumexK- 1 silage added group A diet (group B) for studying digestion and metabolism of sheep fed RumexK-1 silage. The results showed that the apparent digestibility (%) of dry matter (DM), organic material (OM),crude protein (CP),phosphorus (P)and calcium (Ca)of RumexK-1 silage was 61.16+6 16 67.84 ?.96, 71.08?.68, 16.72?16.89 and -5.61?.35 respectively. Retention rate (%)of N, P, Ca was 9.15?4 55 7.31?15.72 arid -4.40?.24 respectively. It suggested that DM and CP of RumexK- 1 silage could be well digested by sheep, but its Ca digestion is problematical. Trial 2:18 45-day-age rabbits randomly were divided into 3 groups and were fed with 40% alfalfa meal (group A),40% RumexK-1 meal (group B),40% RumexK- 1 added 3.3% stone meal (group C)in the diets. The results showed that.(1 )Average daily feed intakes(ADFI) in different groups are 159.81 ?6 08 128.96 ?8.96and 151.11 ?11 .56(g/d) respectively. Average daily gain (ADG) of different groups are 32.61 ?1.63,30.61 ?1.98 and 35.58 ?4.22 (g/d)respectively.(2)The apparent digestibility(%) of OM in different groups are 59.56?.12,70.85?.97 and 69.06? 2.02 respectively. The apparent digestibility(%)of CP in different groups are 68.30 ?.81,74.46?.50 and 73.33?.40 respectively. This showed ADFI and ADG in group B is low while ADFI and ADG in group C is higher .(3)Compared with group B, the apparent digestibility of Ca in group C is improved by 39.79%(P<0.01).This experiment showed that OM,CP,P and Ca of diets contained 40% RumexK- 1 Could be well digested by rabbits. Etbanedioic acid of the diets which contained RumexK-1 and feces were determined. The results showed that sheep obtained ethanedioic acid 16.03 ? 0.1 5(g/d)and excreted 13.31 ?2.92(g/d)while rabbits obtained 3.90 ?0.43(g/d)and excreted 1.23?.31 (g/d).It suggested that the reason that the apparent digestibility of Ca in sheep is different from in rabbits is probably related to degradation of ethanednioic acid in sheep抯 or rabbits?digestive tract.
