We intend to study the effect of different avian species' competitive exclusion culture on salmonella colonization, immunity and serum biochemical values of broiler chickens. Two hundred one-day-old chicks were divided into four groups and provided A (the anaerobic cultures of Ostrich's caecal microflora),B,C,D (only VL medium) respectively. All groups were challenged orally with 2.3X 103 CFU/ml Salmonella.enteritidis at 3 days of ages. Caecum, liver and spleen salmonella colonization were evaluated at 5,15 and 25 days after challenge. Another seven hundred and twenty one-day-old chicks were divided into four groups and provided A,B,C, D respectively as before. Blood serum was collected and evaluated for antibody titer to NDV and IBDV,serum lysozyme content and serum biochemical values .1. Compared with controls, the number of salmonella in the caecal contents of A and B groups decreased significantly on day 8, 18(p<0.01) and 28(p<0.05), the number of salmonella in C group decreased significantly on day 8, 18 and 28(p<0.05),the number of chicks with salmonella positive combine organ cultures also decreased significantly.2.Compared with controls, antibody titer to NDV of A group increased significantly on day 28, 35 and 42;antibody titer to IBDV of A group increasedsignificantly on day 21(p<0.01) and on day 35, 42(p<0.05),antibody titer to IBDV of B group increased significantly on day 21 and 35(p<0.01),antibody titer to IBDV of C group increased significantly on day 21(p<0.05)and 35(p<0.01),serum lysozyme content of C group increased significantly on day 42.3.Compared with controls, serum CHO content of A group increased significantly on day 42(p<0.01),serum CHO content of B group increased significantly on day 21(p<0.01),serum UA content of C group increased significantly on day 21(p<0.01).There was no significant difference in serum TG content between both chicks.
