It has been one of unresolved problems in livestock husbandryhow herdsmen redispose seasonal grassland with the mode ofproduction from changing nomadism to fixed pasture utilization in thewarm season and house feeding in the cold season .The research, whichwas conducted in AshiLi Kazak national township of Changii City, atypical place in the middle section of the Northern slope in theTianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, focues on the optimized model of seasonalgrassland after Settlement fOr herdsmen, the space --distribution in the areacan be firstly obtained according to the natural conditions and theactual productive capacity and forage-animal balance information in theseasonal grassland of the area can be determined with the method ofcombining investigations with experiments. With the principle of thehigh efficient use of energy-material recycle, and then two mode1s oftime~space disposition in the seasonal grassland of this area can also begotten. This study shows that it is uneconomic to adopt complete housefeeding at the present productive 1evel and the more time it takes forstall feeding, the higher the cost of production and the Iower herdsmen,..income will be.(The personal income of herdsmen in the system of thehouse feeding is similar to that in the current utilization system for l2ldays, while it decreased by 26.65% in l36 days over the current system.)So the house feeding issue for producing dams should be consideredfirstly, and then that of the reserve dams and other animal.A new model (model I ) called cold seasonal feeding is suggestedin this research, although both two models can make the forage-animalbalance possible in an individua1 season and a full year, model II (Theproducing dams and the reserve dams are in house feeding in the coIdseason while other animals are put out to pasture) is better. It can notonly reduce the demands for natural grassland resources with the resultof well protected eco1ogical enviroment but can also considerablyincrease the productive ability of natural grassland, the energyconservation(A:output Net enegy of animal production /input generalenergy of concentration, forage and pasture,B:output Net energy ofanimal production /input digestible energy of concelltration, for a-geand pasture ) by 28.57%,56.l8% and personal income 63.39%respectively compared with the present system .It can consolidate theprOject of Settlement for herdsmen, and provide the theoretic and practicalbasis fOr the new model of grass-animal balance in the new method ofproduction for the neighbour areas.
