Ramie is an important fiber crop which is mainly planted in China as well as a kind of product which is used to export. With the improvement of people life, the slap-up ramie textile will be more favored by people. Therefore, it is important to study the quality character of ramie and to select some ramie varieties whose integrated quality is superior. In this paper, the main quality characters 30 ramic varictics chosen from Yuanjiang Ramie Garden of National Germplasm are studied. 1. Mensuration of Main Quality Characters of Ramie and the Effects to Quality Character with Different Season There are some differences among ramie quality characters with the different varieties and seasons. Among 30 varieties studied, the fineness of ushan Ramie is the highest and the value is 2637 g/m; the fineness of ingke Hong is the lowest and the value is 13 1 7 g/m. The fineness uniformity of uanye qing is the best and the CV of fiber diameter is 28.30%; the uniformity of ianzhu qing Ramie is the lowest and the CV of fiber diameter is 36.30%. The breaking strength of ongshun jia Ramie is the highest and the value is 52.54 cN; the breaking strength of ongpi Honghua is the lowest and the value is 29.44 cN. The breaking tenacity of onggan Ramie is the highest and the value is 9.50 cN/dtex; the breaking tenacity of ihuang Bamboo Ramie is the lowest and the value is 6.16 cN/dtex. The breaking elongation ratio ol uanjiang rou Ramie is the highest and the value is 8.17%; the breaking elongation ratio of ihuang jia Ramie is the lowest and the value is 6.02%. The crystallinity degree of aiye Ramie is the highest and the value is 71.1%; the crystallinity degree of ianyuan Zhugen Ramie is the lowest and the value is 66.8%. Among theseasons, the fineness of the first cut and the second cut is highwhereas the fineness of the third cut is low. The fineness uniformityof the second cut is the best and that of the first cut is the worse. Thebreaking strength of the third cut is the highest and that of the firstcut is the lowest. The breaking elongation ratio of the first cut is thehighest and that of the third cut is the lowest. There is no significantdifference on the crystallinity degree among the seasons.2. The Correlation Between the Quality CharacterThe correlation between the ramie quality characters such asfiber diameter, fineness unifOrmity, breaking strength, breakingtenacity, breaking elongation ratio and crystallinity degree arestudied. The results show that the correlation between diameter andbreaking strength is extrel11c sigl1i fica11t al1d tI1c cocfficicnt is 0.694,the correlation between diameter and breaking tenacity is extremelysignificant and the coeffcient is --0.489. The correlation betweendiameter and breaking elongation ratio is significant and thecoefficient is 0.2l2. The correlation between breaking strength andbreaking elongation ratio is extremely significant, and thecoeffcient is 0.386. The correlation between breaking strength andbreaking elongation ratio is significant, and the coefficient is 0.25 8.The correlation of the left quality characters is insignificant.Because of the extreme significant correlation between breakingstrength and fiber diameter, a regression equation is set up. Theequation is "y=-l .778+l .747x", in wl1ich "y" means breakingstrength and "x" means fiber diameter.3.
