Rumex K-l was a perennial plant with persistent roots. It was introduced to China in 1995. Rumex K-l attracted people's attention with its biological characters beneficial to human and economical value. In several years, the planting area of Rumex K-l increased rapidly. In order to acquire scientific data of Rumex K-l and reasonably utilize it, we determined the crude nutriments of Rumex K-l, chose 16 healthy roosters weighed more than 1.8 kilogram for metabolic experiment to determine AME and the metabolic rate of crude protein , calcium and phosphorus. At the same time we determined the content of true protein, free amino acid, and nitrate nitrogen in crude protein of Rumex K-l. We also studies the minerals and the antinutritional factors of tannin and oxalic acid. The result indicated that (1) Rumex K-l was a pasturage of high protein and low fiber. The crude protein content of total pasturage in leafage stage and squaring stage was 32.15% and 29.54% respectively. The content of fiber was low. The content of fiber in leafage stage and squaring stage was 12.34% and 22.00% respectively. Rumex K-l was a high-quality pasturage the same with Medicago satica L. (2) The water content of Rumex K-I was very high. The content of the totle pasturage in leafage stage and squaring stage was 92.09% and 89.73% respectively. It was difficult to solarize and bake. (3) Rumex K-l had relatively high content of crude lipid. The crude lipid content of the totle pasturage in leafage stage and squaring stage was 6.02% and 3.68%. (4) The poultry AME of Rumex K-l in leafage stage and squaring stage was 9.25MJ/kg and 6.61MJ/kg. Themetabolic rate of crude protein in Rumex K-l was relatively high, it was 70.34% and 65.17% in leafage stage and squaring stage each. But the metabolic rate of calcium and phosphorus was low. The metabolic rate of calcium was 34.78% and 27.21%, and that of phosphorus was 18.77% and 15.33% only. (5) Crude protein in Rumex K-l included relatively high true protein. The content of true protein in the crude protein of leafage stage and squaring stage was 67.28% and 72.00% respectively. The content of free amino acid in crude protein was relatively high too. Glutamic acid was the highest, followed with threonine, valine and lysinal etc, it was short of methionine and tryptophan. The content of nitrate in nonprotein nitrogen was also high. The content of nitrate in crude protein was 3.30% and 3.26% of Rumex K-l in leafage stage and squaring stage. (6) There were some antinutitional factors in Rumex K-l, such as dannin and oxalic acid. The content of dannin in stem, leaf and total pasturage of Rumex K-l in leafage stage was 0.37%, 1.16% and 0.59% respectively, and 0.91%, 2.90% and 2.40% in squaring stage . The content of oxalic acid in stem , leaf and total pasturage were all high. The content was 3.98%, 3.18% and 2.71% each in leafage stage and 2.15%, 1.94% and 1.85% in squaring stage . (7) Rumex K-l had abundant minerals. The content of potassium was the highest, the content was 3.01% and 3.20% in stem and leaf of leafage stage respectively , and 1.94%, 1.54% respectively in squaring stage . Calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and sodium was abundant too. There were also abundant trace elements such as iron, zine, manganese and cobalt etc.
