The Developing Of GIS-based Montane Forestry Resources Information System In Xinjiang

GIS( Geographical Information System) is one of the main digital technologies that are used to develop the " Digital Earth". GIS is used in more and more social fields, for its powerful abilities of spatial information analysis, management and storage. The development of the new century forestry also urgently need the GIS technology support. One aspect of breakthroughs of our country forestry is the application of the GIS technology. The study takes the Hutubi forestry center as the application example. The study using the forestry second kind survey data and the basic map of forestry as the data source, and establishing the forestry thematic GIS as the core, mainly carried out the application study of GIS system integrated technology in this system and developed some related function modules based on the real requirements of basic unit of forestry. The study developed a integrated mapping application in C/S(client/server) developing module using the integrated technology of PowerBuilder and Mapinfo, and realized the integrated management of the texts and maps of the forestry second kind survey data. The application has the abilities of managing analysis with data acquired in different periods at the same time. It also has the functions of data edit, data query, and data update. It has some spatial analysis and map edit functions of MapInfo as well. The developing of GIS-based Montane forestry resources information system in Xinjiang just adapts to the demands of the new situation of the montane forest resources management, for the exaltation of Xinjiang montane forest resources management level. The study will lend support to " the Project of Natural Forestry Protection" of Xinjiang, in order to make it smoothly carried on. The study will also promote the construction of " digital forestry" of Xinjiang. The study is hold by the Forestry Bureau of Xinjiang and the Forestry Department of Xinjiang Agriculture University. The system is a kind of management tools that can provide reliable support to decision-maker to make efficient, advance, and scientific decision. The study filled a piece of blankness of information system of montane forestry resources in Xinjiang, and it resolves the real requirements of the basic forestry unit and gives foundation to the going on of the following tasks.
