The effects of paclobutrazol on the germination of crab-grass, green amaranth, golden foxtail, stamp weed and bacon weed seeds was studied. Paclobutrazol decreased the rate of germination of seeds, shortening plumule and radicle length of weeds, and this influence was stronger in higher content of paclobutrazol. And the effect on different weeds was in different level. Paclobutrazol was applied on the potted crab-grass with different applied dosage or in different stage , obviously affected the growth and development of this plant. Result showed paclobutrazol shortened plant height and foliar length, reducing the dry matter accumulation of aerial and root system of crab-grass and stimulating tiller development and foliar widening. Paclobutrazol affected the weed stronger with more dosage. But the foliar breadth of crab-grass in pot applied 4.1 mg paclobutrazol was less than that applied 2.7 mg. With the same applied dosage, paclobutrazol applied in different stage had a different influence . And the function of this plant growth retardant made a contact with soil humidity and the effect was stronger along with humidity increasing.
