The effects of Gln on immune function and the intestinal tract epithelial cell development of early weaning piglets were discussed and the effect of Gln in improving early weaning piglet growth performance was also initially observed. Tests were taken in two series.Series I The influence of Gln on growth performance and diarrhoea of early weaning piglets76 piglets weaned at 28±2 days' old were divided into 4 groups, which were control group (fed with base diet), 0.8% Gln group (fed with base diet + 0.8% Gln), 1.0% Gln group (fed with base diet + 1.0% Gln) and 1.2%Gln group (fed with base diet + 1.2% Gln), respectively. The results showed that, compared with control group, Gln increased average daily gain (0.8% Gln group by 1.4%

0.05) , 1.0% Gln group by 2.8%(P>0.05) and 1.2% Gln group by 30.46% (P<0.05> ), decreased average daily intake (0.8% Gln group by 3.94% (P>0.05) , 1.0% Gln group by 9.65% (P>0.05) and 1.2% Gln group by 2.85% (P>0.05>) and lowered feed weight ratio (0.8% Gln group by 5.22% (P>0.05) , 1.0% Gln group by 12.24% (P>0.05) and 1.2% Gln group by 25.38%(P0.05) ). Diarrhoea rate and dirrahoea frequency were respectively declined by 15.97% (P>0.05) and 3.08% (P>0.05) with no change in57death rate in 0.8% Gin group, and in 1.0% <3hi group diarrhoea rate, diarrhoea frequency and death^xateswaE^dedinedby^iO^/o (P>0.05) , 3.08%

0.05) and 5.26%

0.05) in 1.2% Gin group. The results showed that the weaning diet with the addition of Gin could improved feed coversion rate and the performance of early weaned piglet , reduce the rate of diarrhoea and mortality.Series II The influence of Gin on morphology of intestinal tract and immune function of weaning piglets15 piglets of 28-day-old were devided into 3 group, namely non-weaning group, weaned group (weaned and fed with base diet) and Gin group (weaned and fed with base diet + 3.2%), 5 piglets in each group. In the morning of 38-day-old, all the piglets were slaughtered in empty stomach and intestine, spleen, thymus, adrenal gland, bile ,artery blood and vein blood were collected for analysis. (Djejunum villus height and Lamina depth were determined. The results showed that jejunum villus height of weaned group was 40.16%(P<0.01) and Gin group was 7.80% (PO.05) lower than that of non-weaning group, while Gin group was 54.07% (PO.01) higher than weaned group. The results also showed that Lamina depth of weaned group was 55.81% (PO.01) and Gin group was 11.63(P>0.05) deeper than that of non-weaning group,58while Gin group was 28.63% (P 0.01) shallower than weaned group.?duodenum villus height and Lamina 0.05) lower than that of non-weaning group, while Gin group was 81.11% (P<0.01) higher than weaned group. The results also showed that Lamina depth of weaned group was 32.56% (PO.01) and Gin group was 15.80(P<0.01) deeper than that of non-weaning group, while Gin group was 12.63% (P<0.01) shallower than weaned group. ㏕he specific weights (weight / body weight) of thymus, spleen and adrenal gland showed that, compared with non-weaning group, the specific weight of thymus of weaned group was decreased by 78.97%(P<0.05) and that of Gin group were decreased by 44.42%, Gin group was 164.27% higher than weaned group but not significant difference existed . The specific weight of spleens of weaned group and Gin group were respectively decreased 38.94% (P<0.01) and 17.05%(P<0.01) compared with non-weaning group, and Gin group was higher than weaned group by 35.85%(P<0.01). The specific weight of adrenals gland of weaned group and Gin group were respectively increased by 60.16%(P>0.05) and 15.15%(P>0.05) compared with non-weaning group, and Gin group was lower than weaned group by 28.30% (P>0.05).@ Artery blood IgA contents of weaned group and Gin group were respectively increased by 55.27% (...
