| Castanea henryi is one of species of Castanea genus whose fruit and timber are all used by human. It is a dominant tree species in mid-subtropical evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved mixture forest Its botted history of taxology, form, biological and ecological characters, affiliation with other species, planting history and germ plasm resources, clustering of cultivars and coenological characters were studied.Based on Wilson's study, the process that from Castanea henryi was published for the first time to be namede in due form was described.The time, locus, person, environment of sampling and forms of maternal plants of Castanea henryi were showed. The leaf, flower, fruit etc. of Castanea henryi were bewrited. And its ecological habit, biological characteristics, for example, its viability, phenological phase were discussed.The study confimed Castanea mollissima as external monoid of C. henryi. Some master classified characters were selected. In particular, two characters that display evolutional direction were selected. The distribution of C. henryi in Fujian province and China was studied. Planting of C. henryi has a long time in north of Fujian province. The resources of cultivars germ plasm are abundant. Thirty-three cultivars and three wilding variations were arranged by autumn. Some main classified characters were condificated. According autumn, all OTUs were ploted four clusters, namely premature cultivars, medium maturing cultivars, serotinous cultivars and wilding variation. In every cluster, cultivars or wilding type were clustered, and indentification key was workouted. When some cultivars can not be differentiated with main classified characters, we looked them as the same cultivars at first The result showed that thirty-three cultivars were mergered to twenty-four, and three wilding variations can not be mergered for their large variability.The study established base for sleeting eminent cultivars, and economy of north of Fujian will be promoted. It is important for persistent utilize our country's resources of Castanea genus plants. It conduced to protect and make use of resources of world Castanea genus plants.The paper studied the determination of the minimum sampling area for Castanea henryi community, the colour of community, the niche of the main tree population, the spacial distribution Patterns of dominant species, the competition among dominant species, the flora and species diversity of Castanea henryi community, relative abundance in castanea henryi in loqishan natural reserve in Fujian province. The detatiled content and conclusion as follow:(1) The minimum sampling area of Castanea henryi community at Longqishan in Fujian was studied by using methods of species-area curves, community coefficient-area curves and importance value-area curves. The results show that the minimum sampling areas calculated with these methods were approximately same. The minimum sampling area corresponding to 60% of the total numbers of species of plant for the community was 400 m2, the minimum sampling area corresponding to 90% of the total numbers of species of plant for the community was 1000 m2. So the mimum sampling area of Castanea henryi community in Longqishan is 1200 m2.(2) The life-form and leaf characters of Castanea henryi community was studied and the life-form spectrum was established. The results showed that phaenerophytes were absolutelydominant in the life-form spectrum and its quantity accounted for more than 80%. Among phaenerophytes, quantity of microphanerophyte was the most, and quantity of nanophanerophyte was less.The comparative analyses on life form spectrums and leaf characters of the community showed that this forest has temperate deciduous broadleaved characters. Vegetation character is mixed evergreen and deciduous broadleaved forest.
