Studies On Effects Of Sheep Overclothes On Production Performance And Wool Quality Of Gansu Alpine Merino

200 Gansu Alpine Merino selected from Huangcheng sheep property in Gansu province were divided into two groups randomly, and the sheep of trail group were worn sheep overclothes and no any treatment for control group. The production performance and wool quality of all individuals were measured in next spring under the same management and feeding conditions. The results indicated as follow:1. The average grease wool(raw wool) yield of treatment group (4.48kg) was lower than that of control group (4.78kg)and the difference is significant (P<0.05). The average wool yield of treatment group (2.38kg) was higher than that of control group (1.94kg) and the difference is very significant (P<0.01) .2. The average staple length of treatment group (7.55cm) was longer than that of control group (7.22cm) and the difference is significant (P<0.05) . The average wool fineness of treatment group (21.88μm) was finer than that of control group (22.58μm) and the difference is not significant (P>0.05) .3. The average wool grease length of treatment group (6.25cm) was longer than that of control group (2.80cm) and the difference is very significant (P<0.01) .The average polluted wool staple depth of treatment group (1.31cm) was shorter than that of control group (4.41cm) and the difference is very significant (P<0.01) .The average wool grease of treatment group (16.95%) was higher than that of control group (10.51%) and the average wool sweat of treatment group (16.98%) was higher than that of control group(14.49%) .4. The average wool impurity content of treatment group (12.28 %) was lower than that of control group (33.53%) and the difference is very significant (P<0.01) .Sheep overclothes can keep warm and prevent top of staple from insolation weathering and decrease the impurity and dust, increase wool yield and quality especially in chilliness area.It is easy to use sheep overclothes aegising sheep body and cost is low. It is worth popularizing and using for reference all over the producing areas of our country.
