This paper investigated the production status of the Gansu Alpine fine-wool sheep in the typical family farm of Kangle grassland in Sunan county,Gansu.Through the study of the effects of supplementary feeding wheat straw complete pellet feed and corn stalk complete pellet feed on body weight, blood biochemistry indexes, rumen fermentation parameters, and relative amount of rumen microorganisms of late pregnancy Gansu Alpine Fine-wool sheep, and the birth weight of their lambs. The purpose of this study is to provide theoretical basis and solution for the genetic potential and economic benefits problem of Gansu Alpine fine-wool sheep breeding ewes, which were seriously affected by nutrition deficiency in cold season in Sunan pastoral area.Part1,the survey results of production status of the Gansu Alpine fine-wool sheep of the typical family ranchs in Kangle grassland,Sunan county: According to the survey results on 10 typical family ranchs in Kangle grassland, the main livestock in Kangle grassland is Gansu Alpine Fine-wool Sheep, the method of using grassland is seasonal rotation grazing; The farm scale of Gansu Alpine Fine Wool Sheep in the family ranch was 234-388,which was reduced compared to 2013;The main products of the Gansu Alpine Fine-wool Sheep were wool and lambs. The main economic source was lambs selling, the next is the wool of sheep. In addition, and another economic source was old age ewes. The average annual mortality rate of Gansu Alpine fine-wool sheep of the family ranches in 2017 is 4.03%.At present, the shortage of nutrient supply in the cold season is still the main factor that restricts the development of Gansu Alpine Fine-wool Sheep in the pastoral area of Sunan.Part 2,effects of supplementary feeding wheat straw complete pellet feed and corn stalk complete pellet feed on body weight, blood biochemistry indexes, rumen fermentation parameters, and relative amount of rumen microorganisms of late pregnancy Gansu Alpine Fine-wool sheep, and the birth weight of their lambs: in this study,60 healthy ewes with similar body weight who pregnancy for 3 months were numbered and randomly divided into two treatment groups(group 1,group 2)and one control group, each group had 20 ewes. The nutritional requirement of group 1 and group 2 was according to the feeding standards of the Chinese merino sheep at the late stage of gestation(deducting grazing feed intake). Each ewe in group 1 was supplemented with 1.19 kg wheat straw complete pellet feed per day,and each ewe in group 2 was supplemented with 1.19 kg corn stalk complete pellet feed per day.The ewes in control group were fed with traditional methods of the farmers(corn 0.05 kg per ewe,oat grass 0.20 kg per ewe). The prefeeding period was 4 days, and the formal period was lasted for 60 days. The results are as follows:(1)Changes in weight of late pregnancy ewes and the birth weight of their lambs: after two months of supplementary feeding experiment, the average daily gain of pregnant ewes in two treatment groups were significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05).The birth weight of lambs in two treatment groups were significantly higher than that in control group, which were 0.62 kg and 0.44 kg higher than the birth weight(3.58kg)of lambs in control group. It indicated that the supplementation of wheat straw and corn stalk complete pellet feeds can significantly increase the average daily gain of Gansu alpine fine-wool pregnant ewes, which can significantly increase their genetic potential during late pregnancy, accelerate the growth and development of the fetal lamb in late pregnancy, and significantly increase the birth weight of lambs.(2)Blood biochemistry indexes: blood biochemistry indexes of Gansu alpine fine-wool gestation ewes changed in the normal range. The total cholesterol concentration of lactate dehydrogenase, total protein, albumin, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase and glucose in two treatment groups were significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05).It suggested that supplementation two kinds of straw complete pellet feeds is beneficial to improve the internal environment of Gansu Alpine Fine-wool Sheep pregnant ewes, promote the production of ewes during pregnancy.(3)Rumen metabolic parameters and the relative amount of rumen microorganisms: At the end of the experiment, mole ratio of propionic acid and the concentration of total nitrogen and protein nitrogen in the rumen fluid of pregnant ewes in two treatment groups were significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05),however the mole ratio of acetic acid in the rumen fluid of the pregnant ewes in two treatment groups were significantly lower than that in control group(P<0.05).The relative amount of fungi, protozoa and fibrous degrading bacteria of rumen fluid of pregnant ewes in the treatment groups were significantly lower than that in control group(P<0.05).It suggested that feeding straw pellet feed is beneficial to enhance rumen microbial activity, increased microbial protein yield.
