This study investigsted the effects of supplementary dietary L-carnitine on grow performance, meat quality, serum components in allogynogentic crucian carp. The results are as follows:The results of rearing trials showed that L-carnitine improved the fish growth rate and feed efficiency. Among the levels, the group with 200mg/kg L-carnitine is the best. Furthermore, food conversion rate(FCR)decreased, while there was no significant difference in daily feed intake between the groups. The dissection results indicated that L-carnitine obviously improved the dissection properties of fish. L-carnitine decreased internal organ ratio and liver ratio, contrary to that it increased the muscle ratio. But the diffierence between the groups was not obvious.Adding L-carnitine showed the trend which decreased moisture and crude lipid contents in fish muscle and liver, while enhanced crude protein contents. Analysis on muscle amono acid components showed that L-carnitine improved the TAA(total amino acid), EAA(essential amino acid)contents, and enhanced the Lysin and Met contents, and has no harm to muscle taste. The serum biochemical indexes analysis indicated that L-carnitine increased the blood GH, while decreased the alkaline phosphatase(AKP), serum total cholesterol and the blood urine nitrogen(BUN) significantly.FurthermoreL-carnitine have no significant effects on T3, T4, Amy, GOT, GPT.The figure of supermicrostructure of fish muscle showed that L-carnitine made muscle fat contents change less, villas and microvilla length and density of duodenum were improved.Analysis on the rearing water quality showed L-carnitine had the ability to decrease the ammonia nitrogen in the water, but the effect was not obvious. The results of this research implicated that L-carnitine could enhance growth, improve feed efficiency and edible ratio of the fish and meat quality.lt promote protein synthsis and redistributes lipid deposition. In addition, it could benefit intestine shapes and water quality.
