In this experiment,a single-factor and randomized block design was used comprising of 32 sows to study the effect of adding leather waste to the diet of sows on their reproductive performance. They were used to study the effect of three dietary leather waste levels (1%, 2%, 3%).The feeding experiment was lasted for 110 days. The results are as follows:1 .The reproductive capability of the sows were highly significantly improved (p<0.01) which were born of the sows eating diet with adding of leather waste. The no production days of the sows were reduced 3.0~4.5days(p<0.01) and the lost weights for the sows during the experiment were decreased 12.25~7.5 kg (p<0.05).the lostose and the milk yield have improved manifestly, it raised the feed ability of digestion and resorption for the piglet, in order that it improved the daily gains and the survival rate of piglet ; namely , it increased the lactation effect of sow.2.Chromium in the leather waste significantly lowered the level of insulin in the plasma . As the Lindemann's result, As a signal it increased the sensitivity of insulin to pig. It accelerated the account of the GnRH which was secreted by hypothalamus. It promoted the pituitary to release LH which acted the ovary by the hypothalamus vein system . It accelerated sow's post weaning estrous days.3.Appending leather waste in the feedstuff of lactation sow increased clearly the economic effect of the pig fanning.4.The result suggested that the level of adding of leather waste in the diets should be 2%.5. The form of chromium in the animal, the effect of adding leather waste in the state of stress ,and the question of chromic remnant need the further study.
