Rape is one of the four major oil crops in the world. It is an oil plant and a protein plant, it can also be used as an industrial material and an energy source. Rape oil has accounted for over 20% of the international edible oil, only less than bean oil. hi the past fifty years, rape production has rapidly developed in the world. The planting area and the yield per unit have increased simultaneously. As a result, the rapeseed and rape oil production has exceeded consumption. So the rape production has to transform from the extensive cultivation to the intensive cultivation. An important approach to this transformation is breeding a super oil content rape.The hypocotyls of B. napus L. cv. Zheyou 758 and B. napus L. cv. Zheyouyou No.l were co-cultivated with Agrobacterium tumerfaciens which contained the antisense PEP gene, plants with super oil content were obtained, and then super oil content rape strains were bred-Chao No. 1 and Chao No. 2. The PCR and GUS activity analysis of regenerated oilseed rape plants indicated that the foreign gene was integrated and expressed in the B. napus genome. Genetic study results indicated foreign antisense PEP gene was as a single dominant gene following Mendel's law in the receptor plant. Examination results of the oil content indicated that transgenic super oil content rape Chao No. 1 and Chao No. 2 had the oil content of 47.4% and 52.82% respectively, increased by 24.74% and 25.76% compared with original varieties (the B. napus L. cv. Zheyou 758 and B. napus L. cv. Zheyouyou No. 1). The field experimentation results indicated that Chao No. 1 and Chao No. 2 both kept the excellent agricultural characters of the B. napus L. cv. Zheyou 758 and B. napus L. cv. Zheyouyou No. 1, the yield had a little increased, that was, the oil yield per unit had increased by 25% without the increase of production input, the benefit of the rape production had greatly increased. The increase of the oil content resulted in the decline of the production cost for lipid processing factories. Farmers will benefit from this innovation. It had an important industrialization prospect. The results shew that the anti-PEP-transgene rape oil was safe and had no bad effect on the health of mammal animal after the acute poison and mutation test by Zhejiang MedicalAcademy.The difficulties in the industrialization of transgenic super oil content rape were as follows: (1) the consumers did not easily accept the safety knowledge of the transgenic rap oil. (2) The intellectual property rights protection didn't assort with the industrialization promotion well. (3) Safety management of transgenic crops and the hardware requirements lagged behind. The relevant countermeasures were discussed in this paper: (1) The oil content in the new strains is considerably higher than that of other rape varieties, with this priority, seizing the chance of rape overproduction throughout the world, using the advantage of the low price of tap oil per unit of the new strains and enhancing the competition ability are the approaches to promoting the industrialization. (2) Strengthening the system construction of the intellectual property rights protection, using modern biotechnology to generate multiple super oil content rape strains, improving the lipid composing and protein quality are also important for speeding the industrialization. (3) Enhancing the transgenic safety management of the new strains, using three lines hybridization to protect present new strains intellectual property rights, carrying out commercial operation will promote the industrialization. (4) Introducing business capital actively, building regeneration and high yield demonstration sites will promote the industrialization. To study the combination of new strains and other rape high yield cultivation technology will promote the industrialization steadily.
