| 30 ducks (age 68 weeks ) were used to investigate the effects of melatonin passive immunization during the short light period in the autumn-winter. All ducks were randomly allotted into three groups. Test group II and test group III were passive immunized by intravenous injecting of 0.5ml and 0.8ml of serum antibodies of melatonin per duck respectively , and the control group was passive immunized by 0.8 ml intravenous injecting of normal rabbit serums per duck. Every duck was immuned three times. After 3h of third immunity, six ducks from each group selected for blood collections, and once more every other 4 hours. The concentrations of follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) , luteinizing hormone(LH) , estradiol(E2) and progesterone(P4) were tested by chemical luminescent immunoassay(CLIA).The results showed that: melatonin passive immunization had not effect on duck follicle development and weight of ovaries, The passive immunization of melatonin could significantly increase the rate of E2/P4 in duck serums, which increased with the injecting doses. Passive immunization also increased the concentrations of serum FSH and estradiol(E2). The neutralization of melatonin in the female duck by passive immunization could enhanced the reproductive endocrine function during short light period. Passive immunization with melatonin had stimulation effect on the reproduction function. |
