It is increasingly important that eco-agriculture is practiced in a scientific way in development of the national agriculture, because its extension scale enlarges quickly. A more reasonable method for diagnosis of the agricultural eco-economical system is urgently needed for checking the reasonability of practice of eco-agriculture. The existing diagnosis method is only based on experiences from experts and putting bias emphasis on economical effectiveness. A new method has been studied to realize the goal of diagnosing the agriculture system in an objective way based on comprehensive consideration of social, ecological and economical effectiveness of the agricultural system. It is shown as follows for studies on the concerned theory and the new diagnosis method and the results of its application in an ecological pig farm.1.Study on 1TPS system theory: The theory of Integrated Triangular Pyramid System (1TPS) is put forward for comprehensive modeling of an agricultural system. ITPS system has 1 control center, 3 basic points and 6 important elements. The systematic controlling mechanism is also researched which provides basis for system diagnosis of an agricultural unit or region.2.Study on the diagnosis method: The new diagnosis procedure integrates both methods of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. A qualitative analysis method is developed based on ITPS theory, which determines the necessary contents (indicators), strata structure of the contents and the analysis procedures for the system diagnosis. A series of questionnaires are designed to collect the objective information described as indicators. The indicators selected are able to overally reflect its practical conditions and their interactive coordination levels in terms of social, ecological and economical effectiveness of the analyzed system. An objectively qualitative analysis is able to obtain by logical judgment. For the quantitative analysis, a series of assessment standards has been studied regarding the threshold numerical values of the indicators in relation to macroscopic and microscopic limitation. The weights of every indicator itself and its functions in the social, economical and ecological effectiveness are computed by SPSS software. The quantitative judgment is easily to get by comparison of the results with the threshold standards.3.The diagnosis results: The qualitative judgment for the Tianjin Ninghe Pig Farm indicates an overload of the pig wastes on a limited farm dimension and its periphery farmland. Cooperative rearing with the periphery farmers, so called "company plus satellite farm families", also brings about potential pollution. Besides exist other problems such as lacking of professional persons, weak consciousness and countermeasures in the environment protection. The quantitative diagnosis for the pig farm shows' a relatively quicker increasing of its economical indicator, which increases from 0.59 (1992) to 0.72 (2002). And the social effectiveness indicator also shows a quicker increasing form 0.47 to 0.70 in the same period. While the ecological and coordinative indicators show only a limited increasing, which increase respectively from 0.52 to 0.58 and form 0.63 to 0.64. The results further discover an un-balanced controlling capacity of the farm over the sub-systems of society, economy and ecology. Those controlling capacity indicators are respectively 0.70, 0.72 and 0.58. All the results imply a necessity of strengthening the environment management and its countermeasures.
