This paper does researches on the major underground pests—white grubs that damage the crops seriously in henan province and some regions of all over the country, in order to control the pests on the ground instead of underground, based on the relations of insect and plant, and insect chemical communication, some preliminary works about attracting and toxic of castor bean and sex pheromone of Anomala corpulenta were conducted both in laboratory and in the field, and the main results are summarized as follows:(1) Volatiles from leaves of castor bean were extracted by steam distillation and methylene dechloride and further identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometrya (GC-MS). The volatiles of components are made of 117 compounds, among 50 components are identified and the major component, dibutyl phthalate which relative content is 22.6%; and volatiles of components are complicated, including of green leaves odor compounds, aromatic compounds, aldehhydic compounds, alcoholic compounds, ketonic compounds and some heterocyclic compounds and so on. Some components such as phenol, benzaldehyde, 3-hexen-1-ol, benzene acetaldehyde, benzoic acid, ethyl ester, acetic acid, phenylmethyl ester, caryophyllene, 3,7-dimethyl-1,6-octadien-3-ol, (+)-alpha-terpineol and phytol that were proved to be existed in many plants.(2) The Positively Taxis of Anomala Corpulenta to Castor Bean and being strongly toxic of Castor bean are observed by activity and behavior tests in laboratory and in the field. But castor bean commonly attract adults of Anomala corpulenta. The EAG response of extracts from leaves of castor bean to Anomala corpulenta shows to be not stronger than extracts of some other plants, it is higher than the control(CK) of methylene dechloride, so it is not found that Volatiles from leaves of castor bean play a key role in the taxis of Anomala corpulenta. The results shows that there are difference between in laboratory and in the field. Maybe there are some other causes which we do not knowt, the developed researches are necessary in order to understand the phenomenon(3) The category, shape and distribution of antennal sensilla of Anomala corpulenta Motschulsky were observed under scanning electron microscope. Both the antenna of male and female contain seven kinds of the antennal sensilla, namely, sensilla trichodea, sensilla chactica, sensilla basiconica, sensilla cavitica, sensilla coeloconica, sensilla coelocolumnia, sensilla cavitata-peg, among two new types of sensilla coelocolumnia, sensilla cavitata-peg are founded ,which haven't been reported up to date in some researches on insects of Coleoptera. and the role in chemical communication of Anomala corpulenta are not tested.(4) By tests of the attracting activity of between male adults and female adults of Anomala corpulenta in laboratory, we know that the females attract the males, the substances which are active are sex pheromone that the females release. The abdomens of the female Anomala corpulenta were extracted with methylene dechloride, trichloromethane, ethanol, and the biological activities of the extracts were tested in laboratory. The results show extracts led to male behavior response and extracts with trichloromethane is higher than another two. A analysis on the components of extracts were done. The results show that the components proved to be complicated and different in three extracts by some components which are identified. The components of three extracts, with trichloromethane, ethanol, methylene dichloride as extracting solvents, are mainly made of esters, esters and alcohols, esters and fatty acids respectively. At the same time it are found that the common components of some plants volatiles such as Phenol, benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol, 3-hexen-1-ol and 3-phenyl-2-propenal exist in extracts of sex pheromone, it is obvious that these substances exist in the body of Anomala corpulenta.
