Taking the Flue-cured tobacco leaves from different tobacco-growingareas in China as experiment materials, the appearance quality, physical properties, chemical composition, flavor composition and smoking quality of which were analyzed. At the same time, using foreign and domestic quality evaluation standard of Flue-cured tobacco for reference, all-sided evaluation was made on the tobacco leaf of different tobacco-growing areas. And according to the environment and producing conditions and the quality character of tobacco leaf, Flue-cued tobacco planting areas in china was made regional division. The results showed that:1. Appearance quality The difference of the color intensity, color, leaf structure of tobacco leaf of different area is not clear, and there is no obvious tendency, they most likely have relation with cultivated conditions. The leaf maturity of south region is clearly higher than that of north one, while the tobacco leaf area of north region is obviously larger than that of south one. The width of south region leaf is narrow, in which the leaf of FuJian and YunNan is most narrow.2. Physical properties there is a great difference of the weight per unit of surface among regions, and the weight in north is clearly larger than that in south. The filling power is higher in ShanDong, HeNan and YunNan but lower in GuangDong and LiaoNing. The ratio of leaf containing stem is higher in GuiZhou, HeNan, GuangDong and lowest in LiaoNing.3. Chemical composition Flue-cured areas in china were divided into 3 classes based on the chemical composition of leaves. Kaiyuan of LiaoNing is similar to south tobacco region, and they all belong to the first class, the chemical composition character of which is that, nicotine content is the lowest but reducing sugar, the ratio of reducing sugar to nicotine and the ratio of total nitrogen to nicotine are the highest in 3 classes; and that the total nitrogen and protein content are moderate; kalium content,the highest; and chlorine content, the lowest. ZhuCheng of ShanDong and XuChang of HeNan are similar in chemical composition, remaining with the second one, and the tobacco chemical compositions display that nicotine content is higher but reducing sugar, the ratio of reducing sugar to nicotine and the ratio of total nitrogen to nicotine are lower than the first one, total nitrogen content and protein content aremoderate, kalium content is the lowest, chlorine content is very high. Suzhou of Anhui province and sanmenxia of Henan province are similar in chemical composition, belonging to the third one, and their tobacco chemical composition shows that nicotine content is the highest but reducing sugar, the ratio of reducing sugar to nicotine and the ratio of total nitrogen to nicotine are the lowest in 3 classes, total nitrogen content and protein content are moderate, and chlorine content is relative higher.4. aroma and flavor composition The average content of petroleum ether extract(PEE) in different tobacco areas is arranged in order from highest to lowest, and the sequence is Zhucheng of Shandong, Chenzhou of Hunan, Wenshan of Yunnan, Liangshan of Sichuan, Xuchang of Henan, Shaoguan of Guangdong, Suzhou of Anhuan, Zunyi of Guizhou, Kaiyuan of Liaoning and Sanming of Fujian. Seeing from leaf color, the PEE content of orange leaves are all higher than that of lemon ones except Sanming of Fujian. From highest to lowest, the order of the average content of the total semi-volatile composition in different tobacco areas is, Shaoguan of Guangdong, Zunyi of Guizhou, Chenzhou of Hunan, Wenshan of yunan, Zhucheng of Shandong, Liangshan of Sichuan, Suzhou of Anhui, Kaiyuan of Liaoning, Xuchang of Henan, Sanming of Fujian. On the whole, the total content of semi-volatile composition of south area is higher than that of north one. As far as the total content of 28 kind of flavor composition is concerned, the difference of different tobacco areas is great, the order from highest to lowest is Zunyi of Guizhou, Shaoguan of Guangdong, Zhucheng of Shandong,...
