Qujing is our country’s main tobacco-growing areas. Flue-curedtobacco in Qujing has better quality, tasted fullness, good aroma quality and specialfen-flavor style. In the base of Qujing tobacco-growing areas,3149soil samples andits corresponding3149flue-cured tobacco samples in9tobacco-growing areas usedas materials to analyze the distribution and relationship of soil pH with the quality oftobacco which consist of appearance quality, physical properties, chemicalcomposition and sensory quality. Main results were as follows:(1) The distribution of pH value in Qujing tobacco growing area was analyzed. Results indicated that: pH value in the soil ranged between4.16and8.50, overallcoefficient of variation to a larger extent. There existed significant difference of pHvalue in different tobacco growing areas. Channel, hills and mountain soil pH waslower than flat terrain, undulate undulating ground significantly more acidic. Yellowloam significantly higher than the rest of the pH value of the few landform. Dark redmud field and muddy mountain yellow soil pH significantly higher than the rest ofsome soil characteristics. Limestone mountainous red soil pH distribution limestonemountainous relatively concentrated, with the rising of altitude, the soil pH had agradually decreasing trend.(2) The relationship of soil pH with tobacco appearance quality in Qujingtobacco growing area was analyzed. Results indicated that: Leaf maturity in highgroups more stable, color in all kinds of groups was significant differences. Colourintensity score in low groups were significantly higher than high groups and middlegroups, and the high performance of chromaticity score was relatively concentrated.Structure in high groups was relatively stable.Colour had a significant regression relationship with the soil pH. Leaf body, oil, and color intensity all had a highly significant regression relationship with the soil pH.With soil pH value increases, tobacco maturity maturity, colour and structure weresignificantly increased after the first decline change trend. Leaf body, oil, and colorintensity gradually revealed a trend of steady decline.(3) The relationship of soil pH with tobacco physical properties in Qujingtobacco growing area was analyzed. Results indicated that: The data of leaf weight inmiddle groups was relatively concentrated. Leaf length which had no significantdifference in different groups was relatively stable in high groups. Leaf weight had asignificant regression relationship with the soil pH. Equilibrium moisture content hada highly significant regression relationship with the soil pH. With soil pH valueincreases, leaf weight, length and equilibrium moisture content were graduallyrevealed a trend of steady decline, but leaf width, stalk and filling value were on therise.(4) The relationship of soil pH with tobacco chemical composition in Qujingtobacco growing area was analyzed. Results indicated that: The total sugar contentwas higher overall performance Qujing tobacco growing area, lowest in the middlegroups, but still higher than the standards of quality tobacco. The reducing sugar andtotal nitrogen in low groups were significantly higher than high and middle groups.Alkaloid, total nitrogen and the ratio of reducing sugar to sugar all showed a goodstability in middle groups. Water-soluble chlorine was relatively low in differentgroups. Chlorogenic acids had a significance difference in different groups, and rutinhad the highest content in middle groups.Total sugar, total nitrogen, potassium, nitrogen-nicotine ratio, potassium-chlorineratio and chlorogenic acids all had a significant regression relationship with the soilpH, reducing sugarhad and water-soluble chlorine had a highly significant regressionrelationship with the soil pH. With soil pH value increases, alkaloid, potassium andpetroleum ether extract were significantly increased after the first decline changetrend., starch, water-soluble chlorine, nitrogen-nicotine ratio, ratio of sugar to nitrogenand chlorogenic acids were revealed a trend of decline, but the lpotassium-chlorine ratio was on the rise. The content of volatile acid and volatile alkali in different soilpH interval was not under large changes, and no obvious regularity.(5) The relationship of soil pH with tobacco nutrition elements in Qujing tobaccogrowing area was analyzed. Results indicated that: Calcium and magnesium in middlegroups were in the highest levels, with soil pH value increases, calcium graduallyrevealed a trend of steady rising. Phosphorus howed significant difference in differentgroups, copper showed the good stability in middle groups, and the content of iron inhigh groups significantly below to middle groups and low groups. With soil pH valueincreases, sulfur, zinc, manganese and boron overall showed a trend of decline.Molybdenum had significant difference in different groups, and showed a trend ofrising with soil pH value increases.(6) The relationship of soil pH with tobacco sensory quality in Qujing tobaccogrowing area was analyzed. Results indicated that: aroma quality and volume ofaroma were higher in middle groups, but volume of aroma showed a relative stabilityin middle groups. offensive odor, aftertaste and burning quality had no ignificantdifference in different groups. Taste concentration and aroma type showed the goodstability in middle groups, which strength had a poor performance. Dryness sensationshowed a low relative stable performance in low groups, softness showed the goodrelative stable performance in high groups. Sweetness in low groups significantly richto high groups and middle groups.aroma quality, ash color and agglomerating ability had a significant regressionrelationship with the soil pH, volume of aroma had a highly significant regressionrelationship with the soil pH. taste concentration, strength and aroma type all showeda lower score trend in the partial acidic soil. Overall, with soil pH value increases, agglomerating ability, dryness sensation and sweetness were significantly increasedafter the first decline change trend.
