Three varieties of sugarcane, early-maturing variety ROC 16, intermediate-early variety GT17 and intermediate variety ROC 10, were employed in experiment for application on the soil surface near the plants at late growth stage. The effect of PSR treatment on sugarcane ripening was investigated. The changes of ethylene evolution of leaf+2 were estimated with gas chromatography(GC), and the dynamic changes of IAA and ABA in stalks were tested by high-perforemance liquid chromatography(HPLC). The activities of IAA oxidize in stalks also were measured, The activities of acid and netural invertase, peroxidase, anylase, sucrose phosphate synthase in leaf+1 were measured. The main results were shown as follows:1. The PSR Liquid treatment increased the ethylene release in leaf +2 of all the three varieties. But PSR granule treatment decreased the release for the varieties ROC 10 and the Variety GT17.2. The of PSR granule and PSR Liquid treatments increased the IAA content in the stem tip of the variety ROC 10, but decreased that of GT17. the PSR treatment had no significant influence on the IAA content for the variety ROC 16.3. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments increased the ABA content in stem tip of all the three varieties.4. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments deceased the IAA oxidase activity in internode 2 of all the three variety.5. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments deceased the peroxidaseactivity in leaves of the variety ROC 16, but increased that of ROC 10 and GT17.6. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments decreased the acid invertase activity in leaves of the variety ROC 10 in the early and middle experimental duration, PSR treatment decreased the acid inverses activity for the variety ROC 16 at early processing maturing stage, and that in the whole experimental duration for the variety GT17.7. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments improved the neutral invertase activity in the leaf of the variety ROC 10, but had no significant effect on that of the varieties ROC 16 and GT17.8. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments decreased the ratios of the acid and neutral invertase activities for the varity ROC 10, and that at the middle processing maturing stage for the variety GT17.9. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments decreased the sucrose phosphate synthase activity in the leaf at the whole processing maturing stage for the variety ROC 16 and at the early and the late processing maturing stage for the variety GT17,but had little effect for the variety ROC 10.10. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments decreased the amylase activity in the leaf of the variety ROC 10, but had no significant effect for the varieties ROC 16 and G17.11. There was significant appositive correlation between acid invertase activity and the sucrose content in cane, and there was oppositives correlation between the ratio of acid invertase activity and neutral invertase activity and the sucrose content in cane for all the three varieties.12. The PSR granule and liquid treatments increased the stalk elongation at late growth stage for all three varieties13. For ROC 16 and GT17, the PSR treatments showed the largestincrease in sucrose content in cane at 60 days after treatment ,and then declined gradually and even disappeared as compared with the control. For ROC 10, the PSR treatment increased the sucrose content for the whole processing maturing stage ,but in small degree.14. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments increased the gravity purity of juicy for the varieties ROC 10 and GT17,but decreased for the varityROC16.15. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments increased the Brix in juicy for the variety ROC 10, but decreased for the variety GT17, and had no significant effect for the variety ROC 16.16. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments increased the fiber content in cane for the variety ROC 10, but decreased for the variety GT17 , and had no significant effect on the fiber content in cane for the variety ROC 16.17. The PSR granule and Liquid treatments decreased the reducing sugar...
