Development of MIS for irrigation district and realizing the computerization of the irrigation district management are important measures of making the management of our country's irrigation district more modernized and standardized.With the rapid development of the information technology, the way of processing information is being turned to the computer by hand progressively. The irrigation district management has put forward higher request to the transmission speed and dependability of the information. Establishing the high-efficient and reliable MIS for irrigation district depending on the computer has become the essential demand of social development.According to the reality of Hongjin Irrigation District of Jiangsu Province, the ripe figure technology and the database technology are mixed to be the visual MIS for irrigation district by GIS function of managing and analysing the space information in this text.The MIS for irrigation district includes the information management subsystem, geographical information subsystem and subsystem of administrative decision of water. The first two parts are the study content in this text.The whole system adopts Windows operating system with Visual FoxPro7.0 as systematic developing platforms.It includes data maintenance, data searching ,data statistical analysis, report printing,the maintenance and help file of application system.The VFP 7.0 developing system which is a object-oriented database language is embeded by GIS's function with MapX control of the MapInfo company. So the system have realized the inquiry function of GIS. The spatial-data and attribute-data of the MIS for irrigation district have adopted the way of separating management. The spatial-data is used as the system management of the file . The attribute-data exists in relational database. The figure and database are related through the only ED number to realize two-way inquiry.
