Tissue culture of the new clones of Populus tomentosa Carr. was studied. Clonal test of 16 clones and 6 clones which were obtained by tissue culture were established respectively in Beijing and Gaotang country in Shandong province. Completely random block design was applied in these experiments. And seedling quantitative traits of the new clones were studied.Results indicated the optimal medium of bud multiplication of subculture of new clones of P. tomentosa Carr. is MS+BA0.3mg/L+NAA0.1mg/L+sugar30g/L+agar5g/L; Rooting medium of the new clones is l/2MS+IAA1.0mg/L+sugarl5g/L+agar5g/L.The difference of the new clones in bud multiplication, rooting and survival rate of transplantation was significant.There were significant differences in some quantitative traits among clones, such as the growth of height, diameter of breast height, basal diameter, branches and leaves et al. The fast growth period of stem height and the basal diameter of the new clones were studied too.The correlation coefficients between the stem height, diameter of breast height and the basal diameter are all above 0.840. And the stem height is highly correlated with the branch traits and the leaf traits, as well as the diameter of breast height.Three main components were obtained through the analysis of main components. The cluster analysis demonstrates that the 16 new clones can be divided into 3 groups.
