Small Tail Han sheep is an excellent local breed in China. It is a branch ofMongolia sheep. Small Tail Han sheep have been cultivated for a long time inshandong, henan and hebei province. Small Tail Han sheep performed highlyin prolificacy, fast growth, high quality meat, being tolerated to the hard livingenvironment and what more it could be oestrus in four seasons. How to keep and boost the prolificacy of Small Tail Han Sheep is theemphases in sheep breeding. It is important to ascertain the genes whichcontrol prolificacy in Small Tail Han Sheep. This article focused on the geneticpolymorphism of Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor-IB Gene (BMPR-IB)and its association with the prolificacy of Small Tail Han sheep. To providesome scientific evidence to the basal gentic research in Small Tail Han shepp,We have found the association of high productivity and the candidate gene. The BMPR-IB is a abbreviation of Bone Morphogenetic ProteinReceptor-IB. It lies in the six chromosomes in sheep. Scientists have foundthat the BMPR-IB has two mutations: one is 746 locus , another is 1113 locus. The A was replaced by the G in Chromosome sequence in 746 and the result ofmutation is that glutamine acid changed into Arginine. The C was replaced bythe A in choromose sequence in 1113 locus. This mutation didn't lead to amino 51小尾寒羊 BMPR-IB 基因单核苷酸多态性及其与产羔性能关系的研究acid change in Small Tai Han Sheep. With the powerful PCR-SSCP technique, we analyzed the polymorphismof BMPR-IB in four different sheep groups (Small Tail Han Sheep, Hu Sheep,Dorset and Suffolk). There were 227 blood samples in Small Tail Han Sheep ,Hu Sheep blood sample was 34. Dorset had 40 blood samples and Suffolk had37 blood samples. Single nucleotide Polymorphisms of BMPR-IB gene wasdetected in both high fecundity sheep breeds (Small Tail Han sheep and Husheep). Single nucleotide Polymorphisms couldn't found in Low fecunditybreeds (Suffolk, Dorset). Fragments amplified by primer had two genotype (Band +) in Small Tail Han sheep and Hu Sheep. The genotype frequence of B inSmall Tail Han Sheep was 0.716 and + is 0.284. Hu Sheep genotype frequencewere 0.941 ,0.058. Suffolk and Dorset have only one genotype (+). X2 fitness test on fragments and productivity shows that fecundity breeds(Small Tail Han Sheep and Hu Sheep) have extremely high significance fromlow reproductive breeds (Suffolk, Dorset)(P<0.001)in gene type distributing. The gene type distributing between Small Tail Han Sheep and Hu Sheep isalso extremely high significance(P<0.001). The gene type distributingbetween Suffolk, Dorset isn't significance (P>0.05). Data analysis on Small Tail Han Sheep with litter record showed that thefirst litter size of genotype BB was 0.92 more than genotype ++ (P<0.01). Gene mensuration shows that the mutation of BMPR-IB lay in 746 locus,The "A"was replaced by the "G".
