Study on Application of Taurine in Laying HensTaurine, a bioactive substance, was separated from bile in 1827. Scientists think that taurine is the end product of sulfur amino acid metabolism, Hayes found that kitten retina was lost to blind, because of lack of taurine in 1975.Chinese and foreign scientists go deep into research of physiological action of taurine. The paper investigated the effect of different resources of taurine and different levels on laying hen diet through feeding trial,egg shell quality trial and so forth. This study aimed to serve as the base for further research and application on taurine. In the experiment, the 144 56-wk-old health Hylane hens were randomly assigned to six groups with four replicates of six laying hens per group.The control was provided with the basal diet, taurine was added to the basal diet at the level of 0.05%,0.1%,0.2%,0.5%,1% respectively. Experimental period was eight weeks. In the experiment, the laying hens were weighted at the beginning and the end. For each replicate group, egg production and egg weight were recorded daily and feed consumption was recorded weekly. In the fourth and the eighth week, one was randomly taken out and taken blood from wing vein. In the eighth week, one was randomly killed to take out the heart and liver for determining antioxidant indexes.The results of the experiment are thatThe results of performance showed that in the stage from later period, laying hens receiving taurine level 0.05% diet had a higher laying rate,egg production and average egg weight(P>0.05) than others, but no significant difference. In the trials ,the feed conversion rate of groupâ… was the lowest among all groups, there was no significant difference on feed conversion rate(P>0.05).Broken egg rate of layers decrease and body weight gain of layers increase (P>0.05) in groupâ… . The results of egg shell quality revealed that egg shell intensity and shell thickness were higher than the control (P>0.05). Supplemental taurine decrease special shaped value (P>0.05).The analysis trial of serum biochemical indexes indicated that blood sugar and serum CHOL of taurine groups were lower than the control (P>0.05).
