Clenbuterol is a 2-adrenergicagonist.The rapeutically,it is use dinhumanand veterinary medicine a borochodiator for treatmeng of respiratory conditions.CL can exhibimet abolic effect stop romote muscle growth and decrease fat deposition when it was given in dosage 5to 10 times higher than those required for the rapeutic treatment.However,Clcan remain sintissue of treated animal and cause symptoms of acute poisoning in people.Nocountry has permitted CL as a growth-promoting agent in farmanimals.This review focuses on the metabolism,absorption and tissue residues of CL in food- producing animals, and also describes the out break of food poisoningatho mean dabroad.FDA,WHO and our govern menthave published the regulations of maximum residue limits (MRL)ofCL.Biologically,the char acteristics of CL employs,firstofall,rapidandex tensive absorption;secondly,the accumulation of CL inurine,lever,lung and kidney is dosage and time dependent;thirdly,the elimination of CL is biph a sicpatternand more slowly . Indetection of residues of CL, the combination of screening methodsb a sedonenzy meimmuno a ssayandc on firmatory methods of GC/Ms should be use dtocope with the illegal use of CL in farmanimals.
