| The paper reviewed studies on existence of pre-nicotine and signal substances at different organs and leaf positions of tobacco plant, in order to reveal the rule of nicotine synthesis and distribution. The paper also discussed nicotine synthesis influencing factors such as mineral elements of N, P, K, as well as other agronomic treatments such as variety, top-cutting, plant density, film-covering, irrigating, harvesting date, external regulators, root slicing and root-cutting. The other influencing factors of soil, climate and elevation towards the nicotine concentration in tobacco leaves are also discussed.
