Flow measurement of open channels has got attention of domestic and overseas scholar, such as V-notch weir, rectangular weir and Parshall flume, which are widely used. From the later of last century, most of irrigation areas in our county have adopted U-shaped section channel, which have highly improved the irrigation condition, and enhanced using coefficient of channel and water, but the water measurement of this channel became a new problem. With hardness work of many technologists, a new method suit for water measurement of U- shaped channel has got breakthrough. There are four types of weir can be selected, but abnormal and random using affected the popularization of this achievements.Standardized methods have already been approved extensively in many fields such as industry, circulation of commodities etc. The application of standardized methods in weir is an efficient way to realize water measurement standardization. The subject is carried out under the guidance of such thought. The questions that the paper being researched and solvedare as follows:First, the standardization of U-shaped channel flow measurement. We selected vertical wall flow-measuring flume as main popularization form. We studied some factors such as inclination, slope rate, rough rate, etc. and the possibility of using priority number in the series of U-shaped channel, and drew the conclusion that using RIO series as parameters of U-shaped channel. We verified the estimation method of the flow uncertainty, analyzed the key parts related to water flume standard, proposed the text frame of the standard revision of water flume, and gave out standardized management mode and measure of water flume.Second, the flume standardized making of U-shaped channel. Through the investigation, research and experimental analysis, we adopted concrete as material in making U-shaped channel and confirmed the factory prefabrication and field mounted making process. We analyzed the division scheme and proposed the method of transition curve surface calculation and designing. We studied the arts and crafts of standardization and proposed standardized system of water flume in U-shaped channel, which offered the basis for standardized manufacture.Third, the automation flow measurement system of open channel. From the investigations and analysis of automation flow measurement systems at home, we proposed the automation flow measurement system based on SMS, and analyzed some questions to be solved emphatically such as sensors, data processing, power supply, flow measuring apparatus and guarding against theft, and also discussed water fees charging and water administration, and gave some issues for the further study of the automation flow measurement system of open channel.
