Water and soil loss is the biggest question of environment in the world. There are about65% soil that has water and soil loss. Water and soil loss restricts the development ofeconomy and society, and influences the people' living level improved. The world people allattach importance to water and soil loss, so water and soil loss becomes the hotspot questionin the world. Studied the reason and mechanism of water and soil loss, which conduces to thedevelopment of society and economy, and help to amend environment. When people studiesthe mechanism of water and soil loss, people mostly studies the influencing factors of waterand soil loss which include climate, landform, soil, vegetation, and people' action, and set upthe experience model, or people study the dynamical process of forming water and soil loss,and found the physics model. That make the people' cognition advanced, redound to forecastthe water and soil loss, and prevent and cure the water and soil loss. This paper adopts the region antitheses to study the water and soil loss question of Jiaohemesa and Dunhua mesa. Based the means of field investigation, indoor experimentation, GISmeans, mathematic means, this paper studies the water and soil loss status and the formingreason in the Jiaohe mesa and Dunhua mesa. The paper gives these conclusions: (1) Researchers manage to consensus that the mostly influencing factors of water and soilloss are climate, landform, soil, vegetation, and people' action. This paper exerts soil erosionmodel composing of water and soil loss factors to study the status of water and soil loss, thenthe conclusion of model' result differs from the result of actual measure. So we conclude thatit is not all-sided that we analyzed the status and the forming mechanism of water and soilloss basing on the influencing factors of water and soil loss, or studying the current dynamicalprocess of forming water and soil loss. (2) The landscape type of Jiaohe and Dunhua meta is same, but their growth phase isdifferent. The age phase of Jiaohe meta is middle age, and the age of Jiaohe meta is youth.The growth phase of landscape is difference, the way and intensity of matter flowing isdifference inside the landscape, the intensity of water and soil loss is not same. This paperinvestigates and analyses the status of water and soil loss of Jiaohe and Dunhua meta. Theextent of water and soil loss of Jiaohe and Dunhua meta is different. The extent of water andsoil loss of Jiaohe meta is more serious than Dunhua. So the physical geography process is theimportance factor forming water and soil loss. (3) The difference is big between the amount of water and soil loss what we exert the soilerosion model to calculate and the real extent of water and soil loss. It is conclusion that theinfluencing factors what are climate, landform, soil, vegetation, and people' action, arenecessary conditions forming water and soil loss, but not are the main reasons of producingwater and soil loss of Jiaohe and Dunhua meta. The physical geography process is moreimportant than others influencing factors of water and soil loss, and is the main reasonproducing water and soil loss. (4) The growth phase of landscape is different, then the extent of water and soil loss isdifferent. The physical geography process is the important factor producing water and soilloss. When people study the mechanism of water and soil loss, people analyses climate,landform, soil and so on, and People also analyses the physical geography process, whichhelp people understand and prevent water and soil loss.
