Study On Different Cultivars Of Ber(Zizyphus Mauritiana Lam) In Plastic Shed In Beijing

Ber's latin name is Zizyphus mauritiana Lam, provenance is Indian. It has the characters of growing quickly, fruiting early, high outcome, big fruit, maturing late, so it has been regarded as one of the most valuable and economic fruit trees. This trail analyses respectively from many aspects, such as growing character, fruit character, palynology, resistance physiology and fruit quality, in order to select cultivars of Ber which are suitable to be planted in plastic shed in Beijing and accommodate cultivation. The results show that:(1 introduced cultivars have been proved to be success, every cultivar grows and fruits normally in plastic shed in Beijing. Different cultivars have difference in size of leaf, leaf area, leaf weight, carotinoid content, size of fruit, fruit quality, low temperature resistance and pollen viability. It is important and possible to select several cultivars further.(2)It is suitable to regenerate by cutting stem in April for Ber in plastic shed in Beijing, at this time the ability of sprout is strongest. The analogue equation of leaf area and Leaf length × leaf width can be applied to measure the area of Ber' s leaf. There is no difference in the content of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and total chlorophyll between different cultivars, carotenoid content varies in different cultivars.(3) There is great difference in pollen vitality between different cultivars, The pollen's vitality didn't reduce after having been stored for 20 days at 4℃ and dry environment. There is great difference in average single fruit weight and fruit size between different cultivars. The fruit quality test results in 2003 and 2004 show that the fruit quality of Gaolang-1, Dashijie and Dami is relatively excellent , which the content of soluble solid and carbohydrate content is high, total acid content is low and Vc content is high. The result of fruit degustation show that Gaolang-1 and Dashijie get a high score.(4)In view of water content in leaf, chlorophyll content, leaf conductivity, carbohydrate content and CAT activity, among the 11 cultivars Miandianzao's resistance to low temperature is relatively strong.(5) April the feasible time for grafting in the north area, There is no difference in grafting survival percentage between different cultivars, about 40%. Layerage is not suitable to propagate Ber.
