In this article the development and siutiation of China dairy are described in detail. Acording to the genetic improvement technical system that during the past few decades, scientists in dairy science utilizing theory and methodology of genetics over the long term practice had summarized,we investigated how to establish China dairy cattle genetic evaluation system.Basing on the situation of China dairy cattle breeding ,we give some advice on utilizing accurate and standardized individual performance test procedure in the dairy herd to obtain integral and reliable production records; Organizing large scale progeny tests for young bulls to select best bulls ;Utilizing AI technology throughout the dairy herds to improve the performance at population level through spreading the elite genetic of the superior bulls to the whole herd.The milk yield records of Holstein cows from 1999 to 2004 in the farms of Beijing,Shanghai and Tianjin were collected and adjusted to standard lactation length of 305 days. One year was divided into three seasons considering the special climatic characteristics of China. The effects of farm , year , season , lactation order and individual breeding value on these records were statistically investigated at the same time by animal model BLUP The genetic progress were analysed and discussed by utilizing breeding values calculated by PEST computer software system.
